Modern barn with charred larch cladding — warm Natural brown

The house façade in the form of a modern barn finished with vertically arranged charred Dragonwood larch in a natural, honey-brown shade with an exposed, flame-like grain pattern. Charring using the Shou Sugi Ban technique highlights the wood grain and protects it against rot, insects and UV radiation. The warm colour of the wood combined with anthracite joinery and grey roof creates a cosy yet contemporary effect.

PROJECT TYPESingle-family house

Challenge

Achieving a warm, naturally expressive wooden façade that retains its colour and durability without cyclical oiling.

Solution

Charred Dragonwood Natural larch was used, in which controlled carbonisation preserves the grain pattern and ensures long-term resistance without maintenance.
